ESV Journaling Bible Review plus A Bible Giveaway!

ESV Journaling Bible Review + Giveaway

ESV Journaling Bible Review + GiveawayFirst off, let me start by saying that I have wanted a journaling bible for years. So, when I got the opportunity from FlyBy Promotions to review just that, I may have started jumping up and down out of extreme excitement and said yes!!!! When I opened the box, the impression of the Bible didn’t let me down. With it’s beautiful Blue Flora, cloth over board design grabbing me in right away, I was super excited to jump in and start my journaling!

Details of the Bible:

The copy I received was the Blue Flora Cloth Over Board Hardcover ESV Journaling Bible from Crossway.

2″ Ruled Margins

The Pros:

This Bible does differ from other Bibles I own. With lots of different versions and designs, I always like to get something new to see how I can “make it mine”. I’ve had my eye on a few journaling Bibles, but could never seem to find quite the right one. After using this Bible for a while it became mine- mostly because of it’s uniqueness.

It is hardcover, something I wasn’t too sure if I could get used to (but I did within a few days), making it have more of a journal feel. After a few days, this went from a possible “con” to a “pro” because I feel like it will hold up better in the long run. With this being a journaling Bible, it will get a lot more wear with writing/highlighting/drawing/etc on it’s pages, and I feel that the hard cover allows this to truly make this Bible feel like something you can do all of that in!

The margins are perfect. Not too big, not too small plus, though ruled, the lines are printed faint enough that I can easily take up the whole margin for one image or write on two lines instead of one without it looking weird.

Wonderful for someone who is not an artist. You’ve probably seen some of the amazing stuff people do in their journaling Bible margins…birds, elegant crosses, intricate designs….one thing that was holding me back from getting a journaling Bible was the fact that I was concerned what I would put in the margins. I’m not an artist by any sense of the word, but the margins were so perfect that I don’t feel  that I have to fill it up with gorgeous drawings that I can’t do…words work wonderfully. But, on the other hand, if I was an artist, there is also plenty of room to fill it up with your gorgeous drawings!

It has a ribbon! I love being able to bookmark where I am at, so I was very excited to find out that it has a ribbon!

The font is perfect. Even without my glasses on, I find the font to be the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. I understand how important font tends to be when Bible shopping, and I find this font hard to beat. (the font is a size 7)

The Cons:

Honestly, I really don’t have that many complaints about this Bible. But, since I already listed the pros, I’ll list some of the things that could be considered cons when Bible shopping.

-The one thing that I would change is that the introductions to each book are not on the first page of the book..they are all listed in the back in an “index” format. While not a total deal breaker, I don’t like having to flip back and forth if I want to get the background on the book.

Words of Jesus are in black, not red.

Overall, I am not disappointed with this journaling Bible. I LOVE it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has been looking into journaling. Easy to manage and carry, sturdy and easy to write in, this Bible is a no brainer! With it’s uniqueness that makes it even more special, this Bible is an amazing resource to help you dive into the word of God even more. Take your studying to the next step with this amazing resource.

Another Pro? I am so happy that I can also announce that we will be giving away a copy of this Bible to one lucky winner! Even if you don’t feel like you need another Bible right now, Christmas is just around the corner & this would make a wonderful gift. Our church is now using the ESV and so I would like to have one to follow along with the sermon. Prior to this we used the NIV.

    • I really love the ESV because it is a “word by word” translation rather than a “thought for thought”. When I compare it to my KJV, it’s almost the same, just easier to read!

I have been looking at (and hoping to get) one of these ESV Journaling Bibles for quite some time. Perfect way to make space for the notes that are made in the margins in small print anyway. Great for recording your thoughts or what God is speaking to you about a passage. :)

I do like ESV. New American Standard and then American Standard 1901 are my favorites — that appeared to be a question asked. This sounds like a nice version, the Journaling Bible.

Wonderful giveaway! I use the NIV. It is much easier for me to understand than the KJV even though the way the words are written in the KJV are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for having the giveaway.

My go to Bible is the KJV but I also read several variations and love to compare. Right now the NKJV is what I am reading. Would love to win this one.
