One of the main things around our farm is figuring out the lighting-especially during the winter when it gets dark at 5pm!
Unfortunately (but not really), we still have to go out and work, even when it’s pitch black outside.
Flashlights come in handy, but we still struggle with getting lighting that fits our homestead look.
Having a home that was built in 1888, we try our best at making everything as authentic as possible- even down to the light bulbs.
That’s why I was so super excited to hear about the new Edison light bulbs from Parrot Uncle. These bulbs are just what you may think…but even better. The whole bulb actually lights up when on and even stays on as the filament “dims out” when you turn it off.
Having them around makes you feel like you’re back at the dawn of electricity- perhaps even in the era of Edison, and is truly a great fit if you’re looking for authenticity in or around an old homestead!
Here are some details about the bulbs:
-Clear, transparent glass
-Golden brass base
-Expected to last just over 3,000 hours
Not only that, but you can get these Edison bulbs in a variety of shapes & sizes- such as the long tube bulb, a glass tail bulb or the tungsten bulb. When you have these lights around, you truly feel like your lighting is as authentic as it can be. (click on any bulb below to get more information on it!)
We have tried other bulbs, but sometimes their base isn’t big enough to fit any regular lamp– that’s not the case with these Edison bulbs. Their base is the perfect size and will fit just about any fixture you decide to put it into (the base is the size of a normal lighbulb). Whether you want to put the lights in your dairy barn or in your hallway, they are sure to be a good fit anywhere. Make sure you check out their whole selection of light bulbs here.
Speaking of sticking these bulbs in any fixture, I am super excited to announce that Parrot Uncle is giving away an awesome light, that would look great in a barn or a house!
This iron lamp, combined with the three Edison bulbs and its touch of copper throughout the fixture is an original and unique addition to the homestead that will be sure to turn heads every time someone walks in! To enter to win this lamp fixture, enter the giveaway below- good luck!
note: I received a sample of these bulbs free for my honest review.

I’m in love with the 42 1/2” Quaint Chrome Rosewood LED Ceiling Fan with Foldable Blades. Lovely.
