There’s just something about a warm summer evening, a bowl of homemade ice cream, and a comfortable porch. Here in the south we love our porches and they truly become an extension of our homes. There are so many ways to decorate a porch, but you don’t need a lot of money to make yours special.
We went around the farm and house and re-purposed things we found to create a few different themes on our porch. Here are some pictures of what we have done. (you can click on the links throughout this post to see other decorating ideas from One Ash!)

| This nook near the front door is a perfect place to show our patriotic spirit! We gathered a couple of odd chairs and the bench that was our wood holder in the winter, and placed them near the front porch swing. A few red flowers from the dollar store, an old and faded flag pillow and some parsley in a pot helped to create a fun spot to wait on visitors to arrive! The red white and blue petunia baskets were on sale at a local home improvement store- watch the ads! |

| Even an unused side door gets a patriotic touch! A little red spray paint and some red white and blue fabric updated the old yard sale find shopping cart. |

| The back door may be for family and friends, but there’s no reason it shouldn’t be a pretty welcome! The old strawberry box was collecting junk so the addition of a few dollar store flowers and some painted mason jars create a burst of color! |

| This part of the back porch is very utilitarian but it still stays neat and organized. I found some pretty pink and yellow ticking canvas to make covers for the freezers and swing pillows. A few clothespins on the corners keep the fabric from blowing away! |

This corner gets the perfect amount of sun and shade so this year I
filled the pots with herbs. Rosemary and Lavender are in the
top pot to get the most sun, and cat mint and Pineapple Sage
fill the pot below. Last winter I saved a few Plantain plants
and the pot is over flowing. Too much green? Add a bouquet
of bright dollar store flowers in an old ceramic bird house
for a colorful addition!
