One of my true indicators that fall has arrived is when I take down the summer red white and blue, and put up the orange, rust and gold colors of fall decor. I don’t do a lot of fall decorating, not like some of the things I see out there. But there is just enough of a color change from my summery red-white-and-blue, to the warm tones of autumn to make me remember we are in my favorite season.
It’s always an event for me when the season changes to fall! Not only does fall mean the weather is going to (hopefully!) get cooler. It’s also “birthday” season for all of us at One Ash, it’s the time of year the weekend festivals start up again, it’s Fair Time, and people just generally get outside some more. Yes, Fall is definitely my favorite season!
I do like to change out my decorations, especially out on the porch and in the spots where we spend the most time. Most of my decorations are items that we have had for a while, or vintage items that I have found. I don’t particularly like the “trendy” decorations (although I do love a good trip to Hobby Lobby!), so my decor is pretty simple.
I hope you can gain some inspiration from my decorating for your homestead! I am sharing what I do so that you can get creative and come up with some ideas to really make your decor your own style. Don’t go for what everyone else is doing- be who you are, and decorate the personality of your homestead!
