Let’s be honest with ourselves. Biscuits are delicious. And, there are so many things to do with them! Biscuits & gravy…biscuits with butter….biscuits with jelly….biscuits in a casserole…biscuits just by themselves…the list goes on and on. We all have our favorite way of eating them but, to get to the eating part, we have to have a biscuit first! Everyone makes them a little different, but here is our favorite and easy way of making them here at One Ash– Enjoy!
What you’ll need:
-2 Cups Flour
-1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
-1 Teaspoon Salt
-1 Tablespoon Sugar
-1/3 Cup Shortening (or lard)
-3/4 Cup Milk (of course, we use our raw milk!)
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt & sugar. Whisk until well blended.
Cut in shortening
Add milk
Mix together until a dough form & knead
Roll the dough until it’s about 1/2″ thick (you can go thicker, you’ll just have to adjust your cooking time as necessary)
Cut with biscuit cutter
Lay biscuits onto lightly greased pan. Make sure the biscuits are touching as this helps them rise!
Bake at 425F for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with you favorite side- jelly, jam, with soup or just by themselves.
That’s it!
