Out here on the homestead, we value the simple things—quiet mornings, good food, strong coffee, and meaningful time with those we love. But just like everyone else, we also turn to screens now and then, especially when we want something uplifting to watch together. That’s how we came across Living Scriptures, and I want to share a bit about what we’ve found.
What Is Living Scriptures?
Living Scriptures is a streaming platform full of faith-based videos. It’s geared mainly toward families who want wholesome, gospel-centered content in their homes. Think of it like Netflix—but focused on stories from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Church history, and everyday values like kindness, honesty, and faith.
There are cartoons for kids, documentaries, inspirational films, and even new original content. It’s built with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in mind, but I believe there’s plenty here that would bless any Christian household.
What We Loved
One of the first things I appreciated was how easy it was to navigate. The app worked smoothly on our devices, and it didn’t take long to find something we were interested in watching. Some of our favorites so far:
Animated Scripture Stories – These brought the stories of the Bible and Book of Mormon to life in a way even young kids could follow and enjoy.
Come Follow Me videos – These were great little boosts to our weekly scripture study, especially if you’re doing the “Come Follow Me” curriculum.
Movie Nights – We found several films with good morals, historical insights, and powerful messages of faith that didn’t feel cheesy or forced.
A Few Considerations
Living Scriptures is a subscription service, so it’s not free. But they do offer a free trial, which gives you time to explore the content and see if it’s a good fit for your home. If you have limited internet or data out in the country like we do, it helps that you can download videos ahead of time for offline viewing.

Also, while much of the content leans LDS-specific, many of the teachings—like trusting God, being honest, and loving your neighbor—are universal.
Final Thoughts
Living Scriptures is not about replacing study time or devotions, but rather adding another layer of spiritual learning—something to watch when we need encouragement or just want to fill the air with something good. For these reasons we find it interesting and worthwhile.
