Some films entertain. Others stay with you because they ask you to see something difficult and important. Still Hope is one of those films.
Opening in theaters February 5th, Still Hope tells the story of Hope, a teenager from a close-knit community whose life takes a devastating turn when someone she believes is a friend proves unsafe. What follows is a painful but honest portrayal of human trafficking, loss of identity, and the long, complex road toward recovery. This is not an easy film to watch but it is a necessary one.
What stood out to me most is how Still Hope balances awareness with compassion. It doesn’t sensationalize trauma. Instead, it centers on the humanity of its main character and reminds us that freedom is not the end of the story it’s just the beginning. Recovery takes courage, time, and support, and this film treats that truth with respect.
I also appreciate that a portion of ticket proceeds goes to organizations that care for victims of trafficking. Watching this film isn’t just about being informed. It’s about helping shine a light on a very real issue and supporting those working on the front lines.
As said by Natalie Grant, “Every person needs to see this film.” I agree. Still Hope opens conversations we too often avoid, and it does so with care, dignity, and purpose.
Here’s the synopsis- Hope, a teenager from a tight-knit community, finds herself in danger
when the person she believes to be a new friend proves unsafe. Taken from all she
knows, Hope is forced into sex trafficking and stripped of her identity.
After finding freedom from her captors, Hope discovers that survival is only the first
step. Inspired by true stories, Hope’s journey is a powerful illustration of the
courage it takes to walk the complex path of recovery.
