The Blobs Volume 2 Attack of the Glitchies is one of those books that surprised me in a good way. Every now and then I come across something that is simply fun—full of energy, a little goofy, and different from what we usually keep around here. When it comes to recommending books for kids, I want something entertaining but also worthwhile, and this one manages to be both.
This second book in The Blobs graphic novel series releases April 7th, and it’s geared toward kids ages 8–12. Right from the start, it’s lively and fast-moving, the kind of book that pulls kids in quickly and keeps them turning pages.
The Blobs are back—and this time, the galaxy’s survival depends on a goofy crew of outcasts, a stolen stash of ultra-powerful space gems, and one very unexpected hero learning what it means to do the right thing.
The story follows Cadetski and his crew of misfit Blobs as they arrive on their new home, Planet Splotch… only to discover they’ve accidentally taken something incredibly valuable—the Doomsicles. From there, things take off. They find themselves on the radar of a powerful villain, and what started as a mistake turns into a full adventure to protect their new home.
What stood out to me is that underneath all the humor and action, there’s a steady thread of good values—friendship, courage, and doing the right thing even when it’s not easy. It’s handled lightly, which I appreciate. Nothing feels heavy or overdone, just naturally part of the story.
If your kids (or grandkids) enjoy books like Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, or Captain Underpants, this will feel very familiar in the best way. It’s that same mix of silly humor and adventure, with enough visuals to keep even reluctant readers interested.
Even though this is Volume 2, it’s easy to jump in and follow along. And if they enjoy it, there’s more to go back to—which is always a win.
All in all, this is a fun, high-energy read that keeps things simple in a good way. Just a good story, a few laughs, and some solid reminders about doing what’s right.
