I always enjoy finding something for children that is genuinely fun and has a good message behind it. That’s what I like about The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 Original Soundtrack.
If you know VeggieTales, you may recognize Mike Nawrocki, the co-creator of that much-loved series. He created The Dead Sea Squirrels as another fun way to help children learn about the Bible and the teachings of Jesus through humor, music, and some pretty imaginative characters.
And these squirrels are certainly imaginative!
The Season 1 soundtrack includes all 22 songs from the animated series, running about 38 minutes altogether. There are plenty of silly, lighthearted songs, but there are also songs teaching lessons about kindness, honesty, self-control, mercy, trusting God, and overcoming worry. The album also follows along with some of the biggest stories of Jesus’ life, including His birth, ministry, Crucifixion, and Resurrection.
I have to admit, some of the song titles made me chuckle. “Kitty Kitty Nope,” “Celebrate Your Face,” “I Roll With Self-Control,” and “Happy Lizard Suite” certainly aren’t your everyday Sunday school song titles!
But there’s some serious talent behind these songs, too. The soundtrack features Christian artists including Matthew West, Bart Millard of MercyMe, Ellie Holcomb, Katy Nichole, Mac Powell of Third Day, Steve Taylor, and Ashley Cleveland.
What I especially like is that this gives families a screen-free way to enjoy the characters and lessons. Throw it on during a car ride, while the kids are playing, or just when you want something wholesome playing in the background.
And with 22 songs, there’s plenty to keep those little ears busy!
If you’re looking for something fun, wholesome, and faith-filled for the children in your life, I think The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 Original Soundtrack is worth giving a listen. And it’s the perfect companion to The Dead Sea Squirrels book!
Sometimes a good song sticks in a child’s head—and when the message is a good one, that’s not such a bad thing!
The soundtrack was released July 10, 2026, and is available for streaming on major platforms as well as on CD.
