I always enjoy a novel that has twists, turns, secrets and determination in its story line and characters. The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery by Amanda Cox certainly fulfilled that enjoyment for me! This story is told in both present day and the past of 1965. Ms.Cox does a delightful job of weaving the three main characters- mother Rosemary, grandmother Glory Ann and daughter Sarah- in and out of the events of past and present.
As Sarah returns to her childhood home she is determined to revitalize and continue running the family store. What she doesn’t realize is that old secrets make her mother just as determined to keep her from doing so. As the hidden realities and untold situations unfold these well developed characters find healing power in the truth.
Amanda Cox has a winner with The Secrets of Old Depot Grocery. This is the first of her novels that I had read but I will absolutely look for her work in the future.
