If you listen to Christian music at all then you have no doubt heard My Jesus from Anne Wilson. Anne Wilson’s debut single “My Jesus” was the longest #1 single on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart of 2021 at 7 weeks total. Ms. Wilson is also the first female solo artist debut single to reach #1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart. Wow! What an amazing accomplishment and an amazing song. Can you really hear it without then singing it all day long?!
What you may not know is that My Jesus has not yet been on an album, and Anne Wilsons first album, aptly titled My Jesus, was released on April 22. And what a faith filled, inspiring album it is. One of the things that attracts me to Anne Wilsons singing is the country influence and that little bit of twang she adds. This is heard in one of the best songs on the album- a duet with Hillary Scott (Lady Antebellum fame) call “Mamas”. Mamas (Official Music Video) will release 5/4 for Mother’s Day, and includes footage of Anne surprising her mother with the song, and Hillary Scott and her daughters. And all this started with just one song! Just wait until you hear the entire album from Anne Wilson! I have had the opportunity to listen to the whole thing, and 2 songs just really stood out. Well, 3 if you count My Jesus! The first favorite of mine is Mamas, which I mentioned earlier. The partnership with Hillary Scott is just pretty cool in my opinion. Lady Antebellum is from the nearby Augusta area so we have been fans for years. Now to hear Mrs. Scott sing along with Anne Wilson just solidifies how great this new, young artist will continue to be!
The other favorite song of mine on this album is No Place Like Home. Oh, my, there is so much emotion when Ms. Wilson sings this tribute to her brother. There were so many deep emotions felt when I listened to this song. And isn’t it true- there is no place like our true home!
I don’t think there was a song I didn’t enjoy on the album, and I certainly encourage you to get a copy of your own. You will be inspired and probably find yourself singing and worshipping right along side Anne and the band!
