Easter is just around the corner, and for Christians around the world this is such a special time of year. We all know the story of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, and His glorious resurrection. As we prepare our hearts for the remembrance of this selfless act to save us from our sins there are many books, movies and events available. I have been fortunate to have been offered the chance to review the movie service PureFlix in exchange for my review. From their great list of Easter movies I chose to watch The Passion of the Christ. If you have never seen it, I’ll tell you this movie is an emotional and spiritual experience like you have never seen.
The Passion of the Christ is the “realistic depiction of the final 12 hours of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial crucifixion in Jerusalem”. That sounds like an interesting description of a movie. But, you have no idea! The Passion of the Christ is not for the weak of heart, and it can be graphic. But if you want to experience what it was like in Jerusalem on the day of Christ’s final hours, this movie will walk you through moment by moment. There are parts of the story that are joyful, and there are parts that are beyond tear-jerking. I was mesmerized throughout the entire movie, and in the end was emotionally tired, yet extremely fulfilled. To witness (as close as we can) this intense event was everything that the word “awesome” can include. It’s hard for me to put into words the deep love and gratefulness I felt for Jesus as I was watching this film. You can watch the trailer by clicking on the picture above.

You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, come down from the cross and save yourself!” In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! As we near Easter day, seeing The Passion of the Christ through the streaming service PureFlix has undoubtedly set my soul and spirit right. I feel like everyone should watch this, or any of the other Easter movies offered through PureFlix to help make sure your ideas about Easter are set on Christ, and not on the worldly idea of Easter.
