Living in our old 1800’s farmhouse has been such a blessing over the years. The charm of the porch, the unique details in architecture, the character of the home, the intrique with the history of this place. But this farmhouse has also had it’s challenges! Old homes like this have a LOT of maintenance. It seems like there’s something new every day. Yes, a lot of it is DIY, but there are some things that we just can’t do. And painting the upper gables and eaves was one of those things
I am embarrased to admit it, but our house needed those upper areas painted for probably 5+ years. Oh, we had called some folks to come out and give estimates. But the right person just never came along. We had painters tell us all sorts of things- they couldn’t start work for months, the estimate was so high you would think they were painting a masterpiece, some even told us they couldn’t paint anything so high up! We were truly at a loss of who could paint our much-in-need house. And then came life, a pandemic, and it just got put off for a while longer. Until one day…..
We were driving through our small town and saw that an older home similar to ours was being painted. It was looking good, so we kept watching until it was finished. The house was beautiful when completed! We were speaking with one of the local shop owners we know and asked if she knew the painter. Well, it turned out to be a friend of hers! Needless to say we got the contact info, Mr. One Ash made his first call to M&S Painting, Matthew came out within a day, and the project was started within a week!
Just so you know, we are not in any way affiliated with M&S Painting, but we believe in giving credit where credit is due. Matthew was very meticulous, had great attention to detail, and worked with a high level of integrity. He communicated daily about the progress, and was always on time and dependable. After a lot of pressure washing, paint picking, loads of caulking, window glazing, and even a few tree branches that were in the way being trimmed, M&S Painting sprayed and hand brushed primer (Prime RX from Sherwin Williams), as well as 2-3 coats of Sherwin Williams Duration. We now have a freshly painted farmhouse that will be good to go for many years!
Some of the pictures of the project are here below- we hope you enjoy them! And if you are local and would like to contact M&S Painting their contact information is after the pictures!
