Amish fiction-romance-murder mystery all rolled up in one book? That sounded so intriguing and was the reason I chose to review Among the Innocent by Mary Alford. It’s been a very long time since I ventured into anything having to do with crime, so I was a bit apprehensive, but oh, my! This was a good one!
As Leah had moved on through the decade since her entire Amish family was murdered, she believed that justice had been served. Until she uncovers a new murder, with the same evidence, and new suspicions arise. Of course there has to be a knight in shining armor who comes on the scene, and the new police chief Dalton fits the bill perfectly. As the two spend countless hours together trying to uncover the new and old mysteries, romance blossoms and the reader waits anxiously to see where the relationship will head.
Among the Innocent is a true page turner, the book you won’t want to put down. It is an intricate web of mystery with twists and turns and knuckle biting moments throughout. If you’re tired of the same ole, same ole with Amish or Christian fiction, this new book by Mary Alford is sure to spark your enthusiasm for this kind of reading.
